How to make your own with a herbal tincture of your choice

So you can formulate the gummies for a range of issues – digestive health, help with sleep, immune support etc depending on your chosen herbs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of herbal infusion or tincture
  • 3 tablespoons of gelatin or vegetarian/vegan alternative (such as agar agar or carrageenan)
  • 1/4 cup of sweetners (honey, fruit juice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare a herbal infusionn or tincture with your chosen herbs 
  2. in a saucepan, combine the herbal infusion with the sweetner
  3. Gradually sprinkle and whisk in 3 tablespoons of gelatin (or alternative) until its fully dissolved and mixture becomes smooth.
  4. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until it’s warm but avoid boiling.
  5. Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds or icecube trays
  6. Allow the gummies to cool and set in the fridge for 2-3 hours approx.
  7. remove when set and store in airtight container.

Exact quantities will vary according to personal taste so have fun experimenting!

How to Make a Tincture

  1. Select herbs
  2. chop gind or crumble
  3. Ratio 1:5 1:2 herbs to alcohol ratio (100 grams of herbs would need 500 millilitres of alcohol. the amount you put in the jar will also depend on the plant material: dried leaves and flowers = fill half the jar; fresh leaves and flowers = 3/4 jar; dried roots, berries, bark = 1/4 jar; fresh roots = half jar.
  4. pour alcohol over herbs til completely submerged – should cover by 2.5 cm above – leave 0.6 – 1.3 cm space too allow for herb expansion
